Amazons

We will tend to appear repetitious and you will read over and over, lots of toys, entertainment, routine, things to chew, nutritious food, space to play outside the cage and time to play independently.

For our Amazons we prefer a good parrot seed mix enhanced with sprouted seeds and grains, root vegetables such as carrots and sweet potatoes, fruits and vegetables. Sunflower seeds and peanuts work great as special treats. As always, begin early introducing new foods so they will grow up being receptive to new things.

Panama Amazon

 

 Panama Amazon:
Definitely one of The Beak’s favorites, the Panama Amazon provides all the talking ability of the Double Yellowhead in a smaller, more manageable size (12 to 13 inches). They are a gentler Amazon and will amaze you with their ability to mimic. Don’t stop at talking though, Amazons love to sing! This parrot will delight you not only with its talking ability, but with its responsive and appropriate injections into your daily life and conversations.

Provide it with plenty of room and a place to play on top of their cages. Lots of toys to engage their high intelligence and ingenuity and things to chew, chew, chew. As with all highly intelligent parrots, provide a routine for your pet. This includes, bedtime, mealtime, playtime and time to be with you.

 

Blue-fronted Amazon:
The Blue-fronted Amazon will delight all with its colorful appearance, definitely one of the most beautiful of all the Amazons. Excellent talking ability and generally mild personality makes it an excellent choice for a companion bird.

Blue-fronted Amazon



Blue Crown Mealy Amazon

 Blue-crowned Mealy Amazon:
Often referred to as the "gentle giant," the Mealy Amazon is one of the biggest Amazons (approximately 16 inches). They move more slowly, with deliberation. Their talking ability is not as complete as the Panama or Blue-fronted Amazons, but sufficient to delight their owners. Encourage lots of interaction and talking, the Mealy Amazon has a very loud call and you will want to divert this form of communication as much as possible.
