Severe
Macaws
Severe
Macaws:
Severe
Macaws, the biggest of the mini-Macaws (about 19 inches) possess
all the abilities of their bigger cousins. They are full of playfulness,
interaction, gymnastics and will soak up your attention with cuddling
and attentiveness. Train them well, much as you would a two year
old child. Enjoy them laying in your lap, going about your daily
tasks or watching TV with them on your shoulder, but also teach
them to play independently on a play gym or the top of their cage,
and they will fill your life with endless hours of enjoyment and
love. Provide a variety of toys and rotate them often, peaking
their interest and inquisitiveness. Their talking ability is adequate,
teach them early and teach them often. The more words they can
say, the less occasion they will have to use their own voice in
order to get your attention.
A
good parrot mix or parrot pellets is basic, but dont forget
the fruits and vegetables. The earlier you begin to introduce
new foods to them, the more versatile they will be in their exploration
of foods. Dont stop at apples, oranges, peas, corn, carrots,
they will love sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, zucchini, grapes,
the list is endless.

Hahn
Macaws
Hahns
Macaws:
Just
a smaller version of the Severe Macaw. The little Hahns (just
12 inches) is the perfect choice if space is somewhat limited.
Hardly any bigger than a Cockatiel but, again, all the attitude
and characteristics of a big Macaw. Feed them a good pellet mix
or a small hookbill mix, and all the rest that applies to the
Severes applies to the Hahns as well.
